Our dear friend Ric was having a bad day so he came out for a little retail therapy. There is really nothing better than a sweet little kitten / skull and crossbones mug to pick up your day.

We just received some new shoulder bags from Snap Design, in Portland. The interior fabrics from this batch were particularly good. I scanned in some of my favorites.
Friday, May 16th
Today I noticed that Abby was near the front door dancing around something on the floor. Thinking she was tracking a bug, I went to investigate - Upon closer inspection I found that the wind had blown in a piece of a red plastic streamer. She clearly thought this to be an animate object. One of the many things that I love about Abby is that she has always been a bit of a chicken, definitely a momma's dog. After some encouragement by me, she poked and even bit at it a few times - during one attack it even ended up stuck to her muzzle.
Friday, May 16th
After introducing sustainable clothing lines last fall, we have been working on custom display fixtures that would work with all of our existing fixtures. Today, the big one arrived and I think it turned out pretty amazing. These shots show Morgan and Gavin getting it set up. More shots to come, once it has been put to use!
Composition started as my way to express and share a passion for design. It started a little over 5 years ago with a 450 square foot space in lower downtown Denver. It was a terrible retail location but I guess I was so optimistic and naive that I didn't know any better. I think my sheer exuberance for the products, vendors and the people I was meeting carried me through that first 15 months. Since then, I have learned a great deal about the retail business and its many challenges; grown the store to 2600 square feet in its current Belmar location and continued to feed and share my passion for design and the creative community that this store reaches. I have a lot more to say and share, but right now there is a website to launch.
